2026 half year recap

Almost half of the year is gone and it would be good to take some time for a recap of what happened in that time.

So, just to pick a few things:

  • new job at Egnyte with new oppportunities and challenges; starting 20th of April, 2026; it's been 2 months and I feel like I'm just getting started, but I like it so far - size of the company and people of various interests - sounds like a good place to be, but I need to get used to the new environment (haven't work in such a big company yet); still learning a lot about the company and its products (and technical internals), but I feel like I'm making progress and I'm excited about the future there.

  • Father's day card from my kiddo; he also graduated and is now a third grader; he is a better chess player than me as well

Father's Day Card

  • 11th marriage anniversary (and about 18 years knowing each other)
  • 1 year of 3-times-a-week gym routine (without 2 weeks in total because of cold), Kettlebell trainings are still my favorite but I'm slowly moving to heavy lifting and barbell exercises.
  • more and more figures painted (but even more figures bought to paint :D); I've painted my first Non-Metallic Metal (NMM) and I like it (my first attempt to NMM), however still need to practice.

  • collection of RPG books is growing but somehow time to read them shrinks
  • our cat - 17 years old (which is about 84 in human years) and still going strong
  • still a main BBQ operator

Plans for the next 6 months:

  • get better at work (especially in NodeJS ecosystem)
  • improve gym routine and focus more on strength training and calisthenics, keep kettlebell training - also, eat cleaner and healthier
  • learn Dragonbane RPG system and start playing (as a GM) with my family
  • continue painting miniatures and improve painting skills (probably it is a neverending story)
  • back to play Warhammer 40k (with new 11th edition released) with my friends, just restart and try again; start with Kill Team and Spearhead.
